Accounts Payable Specialist – Hybrid | North York

A growing North York-based company is seeking a meticulous and dependable Accounts Payable Specialist to join their finance team. In this full-time, permanent hybrid role (3+ days in-office), you’ll play a key part in ensuring smooth payment operations, accurate recordkeeping, and compliance across a high-volume transaction environment.


What You’ll Do

  • Review, verify, and process a high volume of vendor invoices for accuracy and policy compliance 
  • Execute timely payments via cheques, ACH, and wire transfers 
  • Manage vendor communications and resolve discrepancies efficiently 
  • Process employee reimbursements and corporate expense reports 
  • Reconcile AP accounts and contribute to month-end close procedures 
  • Support audit processes by preparing and organizing required documentation 
  • Maintain accurate records in accounting systems (QuickBooks) and internal databases 
  • Assist with additional finance-related tasks as needed
     

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience in accounts payable, bookkeeping, or general accounting 
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks and comfort working with high transaction volumes 
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills 
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles; post-secondary education in accounting is an asset 
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

What You’ll Do 

  • Shape and execute financial strategies to support global growth and profitability. 
  • Lead cross-border financial operations in Canada, the U.S., and Europe, ensuring compliance with regional regulations. 
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting, reporting, and risk management across all entities. 
  • Drive budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives aligned with operational goals. 
  • Support capital planning, investor relations, and fundraising efforts. 
  • Build and lead a high-performing finance team; implement scalable systems and controls.


What You Bring

  • CPA, CA, or equivalent accounting designation (MBA considered an asset).
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership, including 3+ years in a CFO or senior finance role within eCommerce or DTC sectors.
  • Proven expertise in cross-border finance, including U.S. and European subsidiaries.
  • Strong command of multi-entity financial operations and tax strategy.
  • Experience with high-volume eCommerce platforms; familiarity with Shopify Plus is highly valued.
  • Collaborative leadership style with excellent communication and team-building skills.
